A Stitcher's Stitchings

Oh, for the love of cross stitching….and a few ramblings

How do I always manage to mess up a project?? July 29, 2012

When I was about halfway done with the first side I thought that I was off a but but wasn’t sure. Well, now that I am to the top of the other side I know I was off.

I’m not sure if u can tell but….

The left side had an extra row. They weren’t even so I had to add another row on the right side.

Here’s a close up:

On the top of the right side there are 6 stitches done. There are only supposed to be 3 but I had to throw an extra row on there.

How in the world do I always manage to miscount somewhere?? I hope this doesn’t throw off the lettering because they are centered in the cross.  *sigh*

As the lovely lady who taught me said: “It’s not a mistake, it’s personalisation” 🙂

Don’t worry about it, honestly. I’ve managed to cover up far worse!

Hmmm….I like that. Now when I give it to hubby after it’s finished I can honestly tell him that there is no other one in the world quite like this one. 🙂

  2. I hate it when I am off a single stitch, which then ends up throwing everything else off! The only thing you might have to worry about is modifying all of the rows that connect the two sides. In order for it to look ‘right’ you might have to do more modifications as you go. Been there, done that!

No worries. I think you did great by hiding it. When I stitched Fariy Flora, I was a couple stitches off on the branches around the border and I just added a few more. No one can tell and I was happy with it. The snowman I am currently working on-has 1 stitch added to the end of each row on the right. since it is mostly background filler, no one will know I added an extra row of stitching. It’s all good and if it’s an easy fix like yours, you don’t have to rip it all out and no one will know. Good job!

Thanks Ginny. I had to keep on track when I was doing parts of it because I couldn’t figure out why the stitches weren’t matching my pattern. Then I remembered I changed it. Lol. Boy was that a bit of a headache. 😀

I’m adjusting my current work in progress (In the pond) right now because I’m off a row at the top of the design but exactly right on the bottom half of the design. 🙂

It’s good to know I’m not the only one. 🙂 But now the tough part comes when you have to remember that it’s altered. Good luck and let me know how it goes!!

I bet when it’s finished no one will be able to tell it is modified

I hope not. I just don’t want it to throw off the rest. I’m going to have to remember for the rest of the project that it’s modified. Eeek!!
