With a whole bunch of different things. First, I got an email from my school telling me I needed to fill out a graduation packet because I’m almost in my last semester. I’ve been doing crazy amounts of school work because I want to keep my GPA up. Whew!! It’s getting tougher but I’m almost done. I’m doing online college so I can stay home with bug but get to walk the stage for graduation. I’m uber excited and hubby is so proud of me.

On top of that, the past week was hectic because….

image

It was bug’s birthday party!! Tomorrow, the 27th, is her official birthday but we had her party at the bowling alley last Saturday. She loved it!! We had family and friends come and she really loved when everyone sang happy birthday to her.

image

She also got to hang out with her cousin that she doesn’t see too often anymore cause she is going to school this year.

image

Overall, it was an awesome day, even when everyone was trying to figure out how to get her rope for her pinata over the tree branch. (If you look closely at bug she’s getting mad cause hubby is wearing my shoes. Hehe)

On top of all of that, I’ve been trying to keep stitching so I get my projects done by Christmas time. I’ve been quite a busy bee!!

I’m so happy to be working on this new project!! I love it when I complete something because that means that I can start on something else. Hehe.  đŸ˜‰Â  Even though I split the geisha pattern up into 4 different pieces, I’m working the bottom half of the dress with both pages and I’m happy to report that the bottom part of said dress is coming along nicely. Here is an updated pic of my progress so far….

image

As you can see, it looks like it’s almost done except for the middle and patten parts. I’m hoping to keep this moving along at a good pace so it’ll be done in time for Christmas. I have other posts that are going to be posted tonight so check back in to see what has kept me so busy!!

Here is my new WIP. It’s a geisha from one of the magazines that I got off of eBay. It’s the Cross Stitch Collection February 2006 issue. I was initially going to make her a different one but that didn’t work out, but that’s a different post.

Anywhoo, here is a pic from the magazine of the completed project

image

It’s a tall one and it is a 2 page spread in the magazine

image

Well, even though I’m young my eyes couldn’t see the symbols. So, after trial and error I was able to blow them up a bit so I can at least see the symbols. Now I’m working with 4 different pages. (Excuse the messy pic)

image

I have been working on the bottom half since late last week, Friday I think and I’ve made a bit of progress on it. Here’s what I have done so far

image

I have this one to do and then another one for my mom before Christmas. I hope I make it!!

*I’m sorry I haven’t been as active on here and I apologize to everyone who has left a comment and I haven’t replied to. Things have been busy lately and I’ll probably have a jumble of rambling posts throughout the week, just to warn you!!

eBay Fabrics September 12, 2012

I have been bidding on cross stitch magazines on eBay and stumbled upon some fabrics. I’ve never had colored fabrics before so I had to get them. I won 2 different ones and I love them both, even though they are 28 ct.

image

The blue/green one is actually a hand dyed, my first one!! It’s a Jubilee called  SeaMist. It’s 18 x 27 so it’s quite a bit of fabric. Here’s the hand dyed part. It looks so much more beautiful in person.

image

The pink one is an opalescent Jazlyn called Peach Fizz. It has little strands of gold in it so when it catches the light it looks beautiful. This one is 13 x 18 so it’s a good size but not as big as the other one.

Here is just the fabric

image

And here is it with a flash, so you can see the gold flecks

I love these purchases and am going to order from this lady again. She is selling her stash and I absolutely love the fabrics she has!!

I was hoping that for this update I would be showing all of you a completed project, but sadly I’m not. I did make awesome progress though!!

I completed the right side of the cross….

image

I was so happy and thought it was good enough, but I got ambitious. I completed the backstitching for the right side

image

AND for the left side!!

Here’s the two sides before the backstitching

image

And after

image

Sorry the lighting is different, but you can see the it did make quite a difference in the shells and the sea weed. I was worried about them not matching but I think they came out pretty good. I can see some differences in them, but I’m not going to tell you where. If you don’t see them they didn’t happen. Lol.

This is every I have so far

image

You can see that all is left is the middle top part of the cross. This is where a sea shell and the big “Footprints”goes. I’m not going to say I’m showing you a completed project next week because I just really don’t want to jinx myself. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!

So, our internet isn’t working so I’m posting this week’s update from my phone. I got so frustrated with our ISP earlier and got a headache.

Thankfully, I got a bit of stitching done this past week. I completed the left part, minus the back stitching, and here’s the result:

image

I love how vibrant the colors are!! I messed up quite a bit cause I worked from the outside in, not a good idea. I had to improvise quite a bit but I think it still came out looking pretty good. My only concern is that the left and right sides are supposed to be mirror images of each other. I hope my mistakes aren’t too visible when looking at the whole project.

Other than completing the left side, I also completed the star shell on the right side, working from the inside out this time. Here’s what it looks like so far:

image

To me it looks quite a bit like the left side so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way. As for the project as a whole, this is how it’s looking:

image

I took the pictures in natural daylight so it really shows the vibrancy of the colors. Hopefully it’ll keep coming together quickly. Hubby has drill this weekend so that means extra stitching time!!
