Okay so here is just a quick post on my update. I’m finished!! I finally completed Footprints and gave it to hubby. He really did love it and couldn’t believe how awesome it looked. Here’s the final product:
Now I’m working on a new project for my mil for Christmas but I’ll post that update next week, or tomorrow so y’all can see what I’m working on. Goodnight everyone!!
I was hoping that for this update I would be showing all of you a completed project, but sadly I’m not. I did make awesome progress though!!
I completed the right side of the cross….
I was so happy and thought it was good enough, but I got ambitious. I completed the backstitching for the right side
AND for the left side!!

Sorry the lighting is different, but you can see the it did make quite a difference in the shells and the sea weed. I was worried about them not matching but I think they came out pretty good. I can see some differences in them, but I’m not going to tell you where. If you don’t see them they didn’t happen. Lol.
This is every I have so far
You can see that all is left is the middle top part of the cross. This is where a sea shell and the big “Footprints”goes. I’m not going to say I’m showing you a completed project next week because I just really don’t want to jinx myself. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!
So, our internet isn’t working so I’m posting this week’s update from my phone. I got so frustrated with our ISP earlier and got a headache.
Thankfully, I got a bit of stitching done this past week. I completed the left part, minus the back stitching, and here’s the result:
I love how vibrant the colors are!! I messed up quite a bit cause I worked from the outside in, not a good idea. I had to improvise quite a bit but I think it still came out looking pretty good. My only concern is that the left and right sides are supposed to be mirror images of each other. I hope my mistakes aren’t too visible when looking at the whole project.
Other than completing the left side, I also completed the star shell on the right side, working from the inside out this time. Here’s what it looks like so far:
To me it looks quite a bit like the left side so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way. As for the project as a whole, this is how it’s looking:
I took the pictures in natural daylight so it really shows the vibrancy of the colors. Hopefully it’ll keep coming together quickly. Hubby has drill this weekend so that means extra stitching time!!
Okay, I’m a bit short on time because I have to get bug to bed, but I had to get my update in.

Looking at my last update I’m really happy with how much I got done. I was hoping to have the whole left side done before I updated, but that didn’t happen. It’s making everything come together too.

I think I’m going to wait on the back stitching because the left and right sides go together do the outlining is almost the same. Now to go put the princess to bed. Goodnight WP!!
Well you know what day it is. It’s time for my update!! I haven’t gotten as much done as I wanted to because it’s been a hectic week and I haven’t really gotten to work on my stitching. Still, I got a good bit done and I’m on to the whole stitches on the left side.
Here’s where I am so far
You can almost see the outline for the star shaped shell. The half stitches aren’t coming out as bad as I thought they would either.

The left side has a lot of color changes coming up so it’ll probably take a bit for me to do. *sigh* I wanted it done by the 27th cause that’s hubby’s birthday but it’s obvious that isn’t going to happen. 😦 I guess I will just get it done as soon as I can.
* Just as a heads up, my next update might not be too much more cause Monday is hubby’s birthday and on the 25th is our 6 year anniversary so it’s going to be a busy weekend. 🙂
I’ve completed the wording!! That took so much longer than I thought it would. But it looks pretty good and I’m happy I got it done.

After I finished the wording I stitched the other outline of the top part of the cross so I can fill in the sides.

Not all of it is shown because it’s on a scroll frame. I prefer it that way though because I can’t see the entire work until it’s fully completed. 🙂
Now most of the top parts are half cross stitches so I hope it’ll get done quickly. I’m just worried too much of the fabric will show though because the pattern calls for 1 stand of thread too. We’ll see!!
*I forgot to mention that I’m saving the top part of the cross with the big word footprints and a big shell for last. That way it’ll tie it all in together. 🙂
So I’ve decided that I’m going to work on the lettering before I move on to the top part. This is my progress of the lettering so far….
I’m really quite surprised at how nice it came out looking. It looks a bit like script. I tried to take a closer shot of the lettering too….
I know it seems like I haven’t really accomplished much based on all my previous weeks’ worth of work but I promise you that I have been working my behind off on it. I’m doing every stitch individually and no long stitches. I’ve convinced myself that it’ll end up looking better when it’s framed compared to if I had done it with the long stitches. This means it’ll probably take me quite a while longer though but that’s okay. 🙂
I’m sooooooo elated with this post. Most of u can tell when I get this excited it’s because I’ve accomplished something, and this time is no different. Guess what I did today….I completed the bottom right side of the project!! This is what the completed side looks like….
Having the right side completed means that I now have the entire bottom part, aside from the wording, completed!! I’m so happy to have this done because the top part has a lot of half stitches so I’m hoping that it’ll come along a bit quicker so that I can get to the wording.
Sorry for the so-so quality of the photos but the one above is just what was completed today and this is the entire project so far….
I wanted to get it completed before I posted my update. I’m debating as to whether I should fill in the lettering on the bottom first and then move on to the top part or just go to the top part and do the lettering last. I’m leaning more towards doing the bottom lettering so I can maybe hide that part from hubby when I scroll it up. Hehe.
*I posted a little late tonight because we had an incident this evening. We were getting ready to tuck hubby into bed and kept telling bug to stop jumping around. I go into the bathroom, hear a loud thunk and bug starts crying. I get in our bedroom and she’s holding her head and her face; the poor baby had rolled off of the bed and landed on the floor. When I asked her what it was that she hit she said the floor and when I asked her what part of her hurt she said everything. It might not sound too funny but it was at the time. I was chuckling at her answers and hubby was laughing at how he saw her, turned his back to her and then turned back and she was on the floor, just like that. The laughing didn’t help but she was okay. 😀
When I was about halfway done with the first side I thought that I was off a but but wasn’t sure. Well, now that I am to the top of the other side I know I was off.
I’m not sure if u can tell but….
The left side had an extra row. They weren’t even so I had to add another row on the right side.

On the top of the right side there are 6 stitches done. There are only supposed to be 3 but I had to throw an extra row on there.
How in the world do I always manage to miscount somewhere?? I hope this doesn’t throw off the lettering because they are centered in the cross. *sigh*
I’m happy with this update this week. I have completed all of the water portions. I’m now on to the sand and the right side footprints.

I’m not going to lie, I’ve become a bit addicted to finishing this project. I have a whole load of school work I have to get finished but I still like working on the project more. 😉
